Root Chakra

 Muladhara


The first chakra. It is located at the base of the spine.

Its element is the Earth and its color is red.

Related to the primary and survival aspects: getting food, a home, health and hygiene. In Muladhara chakra, the material elements predominate over the others. It is a bodily self, dominated by instinct and identified with the body. It is the basis from which we must develop and grow. Just as a tree needs to have its roots firmly in the ground, so we need that base.
